Michael Jackson Biopic Gets Release Date

Michael, the Michael Jackson biopic, will be released worldwide on April 18, 2025.

Lionsgate funds the Antoine Fuqua-directed production. The film depicting Jackson's life will star his nephew Jaafar Jackson. Universal Pictures holds international rights, excluding Japan.

Graham King, a biopic veteran who produced Bohemian Rhapsody, is producing with Michael Jackson estate co-executors John Branca and John McClain. The script was written by Gladiator and Aviator author John Logan.

Lionsgate says the biopic will cover all aspects of Jackson's life, but it's unclear how or if it will address his many controversies, as his estate has defended him against accusations of sexually abusing children. Leaving Neverland, a 2019 HBO documentary, revived those charges.

The official film synopsis: "Michael will represent the brilliant but complicated King of Pop in a compelling and honest manner.

The film depicts his achievements and sorrows on an epic, cinematic scale, from his human side and personal hardships to his creative genius, shown in his most renowned performances.

The other major studio film scheduled for April 2025 is Minecraft. A Warner Bros. film will star Jason Mamoa and Jack Black.
