Travis Kelce Talks Possibility of Retiring from the NFL, Says He Has 'No Desire to Stop Anytime Soon'

Despite his rising star power off the field, Travis Kelce has no plans to retire from the NFL.

“I have no reason to stop playing football,” Kelce, 34, told reporters at a press conference Thursday before the NFL Playoffs.

The NFL has buzzed about Kelce all year, and not only for his football skills. Since flirting with Taylor Swift late last summer, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end has made headlines almost daily.

Meanwhile, Kelce's stardom has soared. The NFL star hosted Saturday Night Live last March, appeared on the Wall Street Journal cover in November, and appears in TV advertising year-round.

“I've been fortunate to do a few things outside of the sports world that I've enjoyed doing, like getting on camera,” Kelce said Thursday.

"The SNL stuff kind of opened up a new happiness and a new career path for me, but it's funny to say that at this point in my career because I think it's so far off."

Football-wise, Kelce remains a league leader. He leads the Chiefs with 984 receiving yards and five touchdowns in 15 games.

Kelce helped the Chiefs win their eighth straight AFC West and ninth straight playoff game with an 11-6 record.

Kelce's mother, who was named one of PEOPLE's 25 Most Intriguing People of the Year, told the WSJ's cover story that he's "happier than I've seen him in a long time" this season owing to his connection with Swift, 34.
